BIG CONGRATS to Juan Carlos Rubert for being our Student of the Month for September. Juan has really upped his Jiu Jitsu skills as of late as proven by his big win at the Battle of the Beach last month. Congrats "Sandman"!!!

Guys as most of you know,we have been friends and part of TEAM RENZO GRACIE for some time now. lt is with great honor and pride, to announce that RENZO GRACIE has opened its doors to OUR ACADEMY and invited us to train with them as a team, at his Manhattan Academy. Members of CODELLA ACADEMY will get together once a month and make the trip into Manhattan to train with MASTER RENZO at his main facility. All of our members should realize that it is because of our close relationship with Renzo that we have this great opportunity. Let's take advantage of this generous offer and get some great training in.

Also guys on a similar note, as part of TEAM RENZO, we are invited to participate in the Pan Am try outs to REPRESENT both OUR ACADEMY and TEAM RENZO. Anyone ranked Blue Belt and above are encouraged to talk to Mike or Gerry about the requirements. One more thing guys, go check out OUR TEAM as they fought and kicked butt in the Battle of the Beach. The pictures are up on the Gallery Page. Now go train some Jiu Jitsu !!!

Congratulations to all the Codella Academy Team Renzo students who competed at the recent Battle of the Beach in Wildwood NJ. All the guys did an excellent job representing our Academy and Team Renzo. Special Congrats to Juan "The Sandman" Rubert who brought home a Silver medal, and Mike Awad who brought home the Gold and in so doing did not allow one point to be scored on him. Great job guys, and remember just stepping on the mat makes you all winners!

Guys, I'm very happy to announce that after training for many years under the legendary Renzo Gracie, and with Renzo's blessing, I was both honored and proud to be the one to slap the coveted and well over due Black Belt to our friend and Team member, and one of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's best kept secrets, Professor Gerry Fajardo.

The next wrestling class has been moved up due to Memorial Day weekend, it will be held on Monday May 19 6-8pm. The classes are intense and everyone is learning alot from Mike, so make sure you check it out your stand up game will thank you!

They're here guys, the Official Kimono/Gi of Team Renzo Gracie. They have a new cut and a great look. You have to check them out, they're really cool, and probably the best gi you could buy for the money! Check out the pictures below. Also, our shirts finally arrived. We have the Codella Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Loyalty Honor Respect Family shirt with all our members' names on the back, and the Team logo on the front. Guys,we will be adding a new section to our News Page. Every month, we will be naming a different student who exempliflies what our Jiu Jitsu Academy is all about. We will name and post a picture of our Academy Team member who has been training the hardest, improving the most, and demonstrating the warrior spirit which we should all try to attain.

The NEW CODELLA ACADEMY was opened April 1st as planned. 4,000 square feet, an MMA Cage, Boxing and excercise equipment! Don't forget Boxing with Coach Darin Wednesday Nights 6:30-8:00, and Wrestling with Mike Awad every 1st and last Monday of the month. Check the schedule for the New Academy times.

Once again Mike wants to pay special thanks to all the guys that helped with the new Academy. In addition, if it were not for the following members, the Academy might not had opened on time. and may not had turned out to be the great Academy it is.

Congratulations to our TEAM RENZO brother Ricardo "Big Dog" Almeida for his very impressive victory in UFC 81. The Big Dog was able to secure a super tight guillotine choke early in the 1st round and as usual made the Team Renzo family proud.

The Codella Academy wants to send its sincerest condolences out to Renzo Gracie and the whole Gracie family on the loss of Renzo's brother Ryan. Ryan Gracie, our friend, great fighter, and competitor passed away recently in Sao Paolo Brazil. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan and his family. May he rest in peace………………………
